🧠What is MIST?
🎯 Why MIST Matters
Malaysia has over 100,000 HIV cases. one of the highest in Asia-Pacific. Most new infections affect key populations, yet proven interventions often don’t reach them. Globally, research takes an average of 17 years to reach practice. MIST exists to close this gap—faster, smarter, and more equitably.
The Malaysian Implementation Science Training (MIST) program responds to this need by equipping a new generation of scholars with the skills to design, test, and scale solutions that work in real-world settings. As the first HIV-focused implementation science training initiative in Malaysia, MIST combines global expertise from Yale University with local knowledge from Universiti Malaya, fostering research that is both rigorous and deeply rooted in community needs.
More than a training program, MIST is a long-term investment in sustainable health equity. With support from CERiA, the Ministry of Health, and international partners like the Fogarty International Center, MIST is helping institutionalize implementation science in Malaysia—ensuring that what works in research makes a real difference in people’s lives.
